The Juneau Hotel, which has been my home for almost two years, sits on the banks of the Gastineau Channel. The channel has a different look each day, depending on the weather, visibility, and how many cruise ships are in town. Below, a gallery of views taken from the same vantage point over the past two years.
During summer tourist season, there are as many as five cruise ships in port.
On a clear day, you can see the snow-covered peaks of the Alaska Range.
On a not-so-clear day, you can't even see the ships, much less the mountains in the background.
