This list caught my eye yesterday: The Cutest Town in Every State. I wasn't surprised to find that in Alaska, the honor goes to Homer. When I was in Homer last time, I designated it as the town I would want to retire in if I lived in Alaska.
The seaside town is the southernmost town on the Alaska highway system, with the Homer Spit jutting out five miles into Kachemak Bay. In addition to adorable otters, there are mountains, glistening water, and lots and lots of fish.
A giant fish hook sculpture makes it clear that they take their fishing seriously around here.

We popped into the Salty Dawg Saloon for a drink, and it's every bit as funky as its name. Inside, it's covered from top to bottom with dollar bills that saloon patrons have left over the years. Thelma and Louise left their contribution (below)...
