I included Chena Hot Springs in our trip itinerary in the hope of spotting that spectacular aurora borealis I saw there last time. Unfortunately, the skies did not cooperate this time. But it did give me the chance to revisit the Ice Museum, where everything--including a bar and the bar stools you sit on--is made of ice. Joan and I indulged in martinis served in glasses made of ice. Mine was their trademark Appletini (apple-flavored martini).

When I was there last December, Chena was a winter wonderland. This time, the place was bursting with color. There were flowers everywhere - on old pickup trucks, farm machinery, cottage rooftops, and surrounding the hot spring. This old truck was one of my favorites.
