Continuing in my tradition of spending my birthday someplace I've never been before, this year's birthday celebration took place on Baranof Island, part of Alaska's Inside Passage. A bed & breakfast (Raven's Peek) that featured a tree house caught my eye; I thought it would be a good addition to my Sleeping Around series. I spent one night in the main B & B (to take advantage of its hot tub and sauna) and the second night in the tree house. It was a great choice. The view from both was spectacular.
The last time I slept in a tree house, langur monkeys were poking their heads in, and a bandicoot ate my soap. But this -- this is not your mother's tree house. It's more like the Rolls Royce of tree houses. Four levels, with bunk beds on the bottom level, kitchenette and bathroom on 2nd level, sitting room on 3rd, and a master bedroom with TV on the top level. Completely enclosed, so no chance of bandicoots getting in. And the high-tech shower where you can listen to the radio while you soap up was a nice touch.

Lots of nice wood throughout, gathered from the property.
My first day (in the main building of the B & B) looked like this: Hike 10 miles. Soak in hot tub 30 minutes. Move to sauna for 20 minutes. Back to hot tub. Repeat.
