My mother used to say, whatever you did on New Year's Day, that's what your whole year was going to look like.
If that's true, then my 2013 will be a gentle glide through softly-falling snow, with only the occassional plop into a snowbank. It's going to be a bit chilly (it was in the 20s during the day, though it's getting down to 13 degrees tonight), but the scenery will be worth it.
I'm good with that forecast.
It's been a while since I've been on cross-country skis (over 12 years?) though I did do a little downhill a few years back. Rochester has some great trails, and this one at Mendon Ponds Park was a blast. Both of my two falls were soft landings; getting myself up and out of the snowbank was the trickiest part.
