From a sand sculpting competition in Virginia Beach, VA, part of the annual Neptune festival, in honor of the Roman god of water and the sea. Sculptures were created on the beach, then enclosed with a tent for the 10-day display. Puts my feeble attempts at sand castle building to shame!

Where:
Virginia Beach Boardwalk, Virginia

Was it held inside? Galveston has a lg.sand building fest. in June, but I've never seen one inside.

Donna: They were created outside, right on the beach, but then after they were finished, they placed a tent around them for the 10-day viewing period.

Sharon: I was a bit surprised about the winner - it was photo #4 and #5. Not the one I would have picked as my first choice, but I think it may have had something to do with the level of intricacy at the top of the sculpture.
