Built on the Singapore river, Singapore is both a city and a country. A cruise down the river in a "bumboat" gave us a great view of modern Singapore's skyscrapers as well as the older shops of a colonial past. After the cruise, I set off on foot with my camera, criss-crossing the city from Little India to Chinatown.

The Merlion (a half fish, half lion beast) is a symbol of Singapore (Singapura = Lion City in Malay language). At right, a whimsical sculpture of children diving into the Singapore river. |
| Singapore is composed of one main island, plus about 63 smaller islands. Cable cars connect the main island with popular tourist destination Sentosa Island. We didn't have time to make it out there, but I hope to, on my next trip here. |

I'm amazed at the sheer quantity and quality of the sights you're able to fit into a day. Whenever I think that's it, you surprise me with additional adventures packed into whatever time you had available. What magical sources do you conjure up to achieve all this incredible sightings? I love it...I'm so in awe!!
